Event Details

Each of the three events will be led by experts in their fields.

On Friday, May 13, Dr. Thomas Guderjan, Chair and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Texas at Tyler, will share his knowledge of the Mayan culture. Dr. Guderjan has been traveling and researching the Mayan culture in Belize for many years and has fun facts to share about their culture. This fun and entertaining evening will culminate in a dinner with Mexican food and drink! Come hear come fun facts about how "money" grows on trees in the Mayan culture and about the farms that are as big as the city of Tyler!

On Saturday, July 23, Jennifer Belew, a chemistry and biochemistry lecturer at the University of Texas at Tyler, will share her expertise on how heat affects the food that we cook. How do you order YOUR steak cooked? Guests will learn about how the taste of meat is different for different cooking temperatures. Guests will be able to sample steak that has been cooked at a variety of temperatures (rare, medium and well done). You will leave with knowledge that you can apply in your own kitchen. In addition to the tasting for the presentation, light appetizers and drinks will be served.

On Saturday, September 17, Take Flight with The Touring Chocolatier: An Adventure in Wine & Chocolate. We are excited to have Kay Thibodeaux, The Traveling Chocolatier join us for an evening of Chocolate and Wine pairing. With over a decade of experience in the chocolate industry, Kay is constantly honing her confectionary-making skills. Her journey now continues – with YOU! Kay is here to take you on your own Chocolate Adventure. In addition to the tasting, light appetizers and drinks will be served.
